ISLAMABAD -- Gen. Pervez Musharraf, Pakistan's military ruler, has vowed to give Pakistanis a new life through the establishment a new political order. This promise will be put to test in the next few months.
Most of Musharraf's critics, while acknowledging that he appears to be well meaning, argue that the Pakistani military government's planned reforms may fail to begin tackling the country's many problems.
For the general, the ultimate question is whether he can create a new political order that ends the legacy of corruption in politics. As of yet, there are no easy answers.
