A funeral service was held on Tuesday for Princess Yuriko, who died earlier this month at age 101, at Toshimagaoka Cemetery in Tokyo.
The funeral procession left Princess Yuriko’s residence at the Akasaka Estate on Tuesday morning.
The ceremony, called Renso-no-gi, began at around 10 a.m. About 480 people were in attendance, including Crown Prince Akishino, Crown Princess Kiko and other members of the imperial family. As a representative of the government, Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba paid his respects to the late princess. Her granddaughter Princess Akiko served as the chief mourner.
