A nuclear waste management body has backed further disposal site survey work in two municipalities in Hokkaido.
On Friday, the Nuclear Waste Management Organization of Japan submitted a report to the town of Suttsu in Hokkaido on the results of a survey to select a final disposal site for high-level radioactive waste from nuclear power plants.
The NUMO report is based on what is known as a literature survey, which was conducted to look into geological data and papers related to the town.
