Tokyo police announced Wednesday the arrest of a 24-year-old host club employee in the capital’s Kabukicho entertainment district for allegedly attempting to force a female client into prostitution.

The suspect, Daisuke Tanaka, was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted prostitution under coercion, a violation of the Anti-Prostitution Act. Tanaka, who works at the host club "GRAN," has admitted to the allegations, according to police.

Investigators revealed that the victim, a woman in her 20s, began frequenting Tanaka’s club around April. In August, Tanaka allegedly pressured her to engage in prostitution near Okubo Park in Shinjuku Ward, saying, “You’re not paying me enough. You need to pay a minimum of ¥100,000.”
