Police are investigating a suspected murder after a 56-year-old woman was found dead early Friday morning at a hotel in the city of Ichihara, Chiba Prefecture.
The woman, identified as hotel worker Hitomi Saeki, was discovered at around 7:30 a.m., according to authorities. She was reportedly bound at the wrists and had what appeared to be slash wounds on her neck.
Emergency responders arrived after a 119 call reported that a woman in her 50s was “lying on the ground, with her wrists tied and showing no signs of consciousness or breathing.”
Medics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Saeki, who worked alone that morning, was found bleeding at the reception desk by the hotel’s manager upon their arrival. Police said no weapon was found at the scene.
The incident occurred approximately 7 kilometers southeast of Anegasaki Station.
