Train enthusiasts are up in arms over changes to the Seishun 18 ticket, an iconic and inexpensive all-you-can-ride pass.
Japan Railway Group announced last week that they will be making some major changes to the ticket starting on Nov. 26, such as requiring people to use the ticket on consecutive days and only allowing one passenger to use it.
Before, the Seishun 18 — which directly translates to "youthful 18" — could be used anytime within a month or two of its purchase, and could be shared among multiple passengers. For example, a five-day pass could be used by one individual over the course of five separate days, or could be used in one day by a group of five.
