Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings on Monday resumed experimental work to remove nuclear fuel debris from the No. 2 reactor of its meltdown-stricken Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant.
The trial had been suspended for more than a month mainly due to the need to replace two cameras attached to a debris-removal device that malfunctioned.
The collection of the debris from the reactor is expected to take about two weeks. If the attempt is successful, the process of decommissioning the plant will enter a new phase.
