A growing number of tourist hot spots in Japan are considering implementing a two-tier pricing system that charges visitors more than local residents.
The measure, already adopted at some restaurants and other stores, is being considered in places such as Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, in order to secure funds for maintaining the facilities.
However, experts have warned that the system may lead to discrimination if it is not carefully thought out.
