Hanako and Taro Nomura, who are deaf, are just like any other married couple. But for years, they wondered why they could not conceive.
The couple, who use pseudonyms for privacy reasons, got married in 1970 and decided to try for kids around four years later after Hanako Nomura expressed her wish to do so.
A baby girl born to them died shortly after her birth but the couple decided that they wanted to try again.
