The Shiga Prefectural Police have placed a 35-year-old man under arrest on suspicion of murdering his 60-year-old probation officer last month.
Kohei Iitsuka, 35, from the city of Otsu in the prefecture, had been under probation following a conviction for a convenience store robbery. He was supervised by Hiroshi Shinjo, a 60-year-old restaurant owner and probation officer.
Iitsuka was placed under arrest on Saturday for allegedly killing Shinjo by repeatedly stabbing him in the upper body with a knife at the latter’s home in the city at some point between 7:00 p.m. on May 24 and 4:00 p.m. on May 26. He was sent to prosecutors on Monday.
