Police are looking for a suspect, believed to be a Chinese national, who spray-painted the word “toilet” on a stone pillar at Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo over the weekend after urinating on it. What appears to be a video of the perpetrator vandalizing the shrine has gone viral on Chinese social media.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, police inspected the graffiti early Saturday after the suspect allegedly vandalized the shrine at around 10 p.m. the day before, Jiji reported. The suspect had already left Japan by the time police were notified, the news agency said.
In the video shared online, a man who called himself “Iron Head” went to Yasukuni Shrine and urinated on the pillar before writing the word “toilet” in red spray paint.
