Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy on Sunday used a speech during a surprise visit to Singapore for a major Asian security conference to lament China’s unwillingness to use its sway with Moscow to help end Russia’s “cruel war" ahead of a peace conference later this month.
Addressing the Shangri-La Dialogue forum in the city-state, Zelenskyy said that by attending the June 15-16 peace summit in Switzerland, Asian nations would highlight their commitment to the rules-based international order and lend more credibility to efforts to end the more than 2-year-old conflict.
“Every leader in every country can show their commitment to peace,” he said. “The global majority can ensure, with their involvement, that what is agreed upon is truly implemented.”
