A recent spate of robberies in several prefectures near Tokyo has put the police on high alert, with investigators looking into whether the same individuals were involved in the crimes.
On Wednesday, the Tochigi police arrested two Vietnamese men for allegedly trying to use a stolen cash card to withdraw money from an ATM machine at a convenience store in Tochigi Prefecture. The cash card belonged to one of the victims of a recent robbery.
Hoang Huu Hoa, a 25-year-old interior decorator, denied the charges of attempted theft. Mai Van Sy, 23, who was with Hoang at the convenience store, was also arrested for allegedly overstaying his visa.
