Victories in three Lower House by-elections last month have given the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, Japan’s main opposition force, a major confidence boost.
Now the party says it’s ready for the next step: winning at least 150 seats in the next general election, failing which CDP head Kenta Izumi has promised to resign. On Wednesday, Izumi told reporters the party may field over 200 candidates once the election takes place.
