The government plans to allow people obtaining My Number cards to show digital student IDs and employee IDs as valid identification documents when receiving the cards, starting as early as May.
The move is aimed at broadening the scope of acceptable ID methods to encourage students and workers to sign up for the cards.
The internal affairs ministry is set to revise the relevant ministerial ordinance early next month, with the changes expected to come into effect immediately.
