Japan's Children and Families Agency has yet to fulfill its initial aims of exercising leadership over child-related policies and breaking down sectionalism among government bodies, one year after its launch.
The agency was created on April 1 last year to serve as the control tower for the government's child-related policies.
In December last year, the Cabinet approved a strategy for children's future, featuring unprecedented measures aimed at tackling the country's low birthrate.
