The internet personality and former lawmaker known as GaaSyy admitted in court Tuesday to making defamatory remarks toward celebrities in videos he posted on social media.
However, his lawyers said they intend to argue against the prosecutors’ accusation that the threats and defamation were of a habitual nature.
During the first trial hearing at the Tokyo District Court, prosecutors said GaaSyy, whose real name is Yoshikazu Higashitani, threatened and defamed three people on his YouTube channel, Instagram account and via the Twitcasting live-streaming service. The victims included popular actor Go Ayano, 41, and designer Kimio Fukutani, 47.
