Tropical Storm Yun-yeung brought heavy rain across wide areas of Japan on Friday, prompting warnings over the risk of flooding and mudslides.
As of Friday afternoon, the storm had stalled south of Japan’s main island of Honshu, slowly tracking northeast. It was expected to become a tropical depression later in the day.
The storm caused heavy rain in the Kanto-Koshin area, prompting the Meteorological Agency to issue an emergency mudslide warning for the Izu islands and parts of Chiba and Ibaraki prefectures as of 11:30 a.m.
