North Korea will make a second try at putting an apparent spy satellite into orbit between Thursday and Aug. 31, the Japanese government said Tuesday, after a failed attempt in May.
Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the North had notified Japan of the window and that Tokyo demanded that Pyongyang cease its launch preparations.
"Launching a satellite using ballistic missile technology, even for the purpose of launching a satellite, is a violation of the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions," Kishida told reporters. "This is a serious issue and concerns the safety of the Japanese people."
