Given the persistent problem of long working hours for schoolteachers, one educator from Gifu Prefecture is leading initiatives for teachers’ work-style reforms by using academic research and scientific data.
Toshiro Mori, 39, a junior high school teacher in the town of Yoro, was named a teacher ambassador by the education board of Toda, Saitama Prefecture, in November to connect the administration and schools. He aims to improve the learning environment and reduce teachers’ workloads by providing guidance on how to collect and use data in teacher training programs.
Until March, Mori was the head teacher at Kasagou Elementary School in the town of Yoro in Gifu.
