Rose Mind, a popular sake from Tenpoichi sake brewer in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, has seen its demand surge since it was served during the Group of Seven summit held in Hiroshima in May.
“We are very honored to have been chosen among many sake breweries," said Chikako Utsumi, 37, a public relations staff at Tenpoichi, the only brewery in Fukuyama.
The term “rose mind," which local people use to mean “compassion” and “kindness,” spread in Fukuyama, where citizens had planted roses in hopes of reconstruction after the war. Rose Mind is made of rice and yeast from roses, the symbolic flower of Fukuyama.
