This year marks the 40th anniversary of Japanese automaker Suzuki’s entry into Indian market. Over the years, India has grown to be the world’s fifth largest passenger car market after China, the U.S., Japan and Germany, with an annual production capacity of 2.25 million vehicles.
While Suzuki’s presence in India has shown some signs of decline in recent years, the company still holds an overwhelming share of the market. President Toshihiro Suzuki says India remains “Suzuki’s lifeline,” and pledges to regain the 50% market share it once enjoyed.
