The Tokyo government said it confirmed 15 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the capital's total to 5,195.
Tokyo recorded 10 or more cases for three straight days after it saw eight infections on Monday. The weekly figure is 63, below the 70 infections per week threshold that the government has set as a target for lifting a state of emergency.
Since the lifting of the state of emergency on Monday, Tokyo has relaxed stay-home and business-closure requests, allowing restaurants and bars to open for longer hours.
