The Trump administration will propose new rules to bar Planned Parenthood and other health care providers from performing or even discussing abortions at facilities that receive federal family planning funds, an administration official said on Thursday night.
The proposal, to be filed by the Department of Health and Human Services on Friday, would require physical and financial separation between facilities receiving the federal funding and those where abortion is performed, supported or referred as a method of family planning, according to the official.
The policy would mirror similar restrictions in place during the Reagan administration. It is the latest in a series of steps under President Donald Trump targeting abortion providers and Planned Parenthood, and will be seen as a victory for social conservatives.
