A Vietnamese man held at an immigration detention center died on Saturday, it has been learned, drawing fresh attention to the often criticized conditions of the Japanese detention system.
The man died at the East Japan Immigration Center in Ibaraki Prefecture, according to activists, a lawyer and another detainee at the facility.
Two men died at the same facility in 2014.
