Britain will not walk away from Europe even as it prepares to leave the European Union, Britain's envoy to Japan said Friday.
British Ambassador Tim Hitchens said one focus now is on healing the internal wounds created by last week's referendum, and the nation's next leader is likely to try to find common ground between the two sides.
"Britain will leave the EU but it will not turn its back to Europe," Tim Hitchens said in fluent Japanese at a news conference at the Japan National Press Club.
