Environment ministers and representatives from Group of Seven nations began a two-day meeting Sunday, with host and chair Japan calling for "concrete action" to implement the landmark climate deal reached in Paris last year.
G-7 nations must continue working together toward "a sustainable society," Environment Minister Tamayo Marukawa said at the outset of the meeting in Toyama on the Sea of Japan coast.
The first day of talks was expected to address progress on a set of U.N. sustainable development goals, such as combating poverty, as well as waste reduction and recycling. The session on climate change is slated for Monday.
