Indian nationals in Japan celebrated the 125th anniversary of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar’s birth on April 14 at the country’s embassy in Tokyo.
In an event at the embassy’s Vivekananda Cultural Centre Auditorium, participants marked Ambedkar’s birthday and recalled his contribution to the founding of modern India, as well as his quest for social equality and justice.
His birthday, known as Ambedkar Jayanti or Bhim Jayanti, is a public holiday throughout India and the occasion is commemorated at relevant facilities around the world.
