As the popularity of Halloween celebrations has grown in recent years in Japan, so too has the headache posed to police by the autumnal event.

Two people were arrested during last year's Halloween festivities in Shibuya — the top destination for Halloween revelers in Tokyo — one for punching a police officer in the face and another for groping a woman in the midst of a heaving crowd.

In a first this year, events under the banner "Shibu Fes" took place simultaneously at 20 locations in the area, including nightclubs and live music venues, which served to somewhat mitigate the crowds in the street.
