Barbecue sets made by inmates at Mie Prison in Tsu, Mie Prefecture, are gaining popularity for their durability and ease of use.
The prisoners are working hard to meet the growing demand because recreational activities, as well as chances to eat and cook in the great outdoors, are likely to increase in the fall.
"We do everything by hand, from welding to painting. Our barbecue set is very durable and can last over 10 years," said Satoshi Sasaki, 59, a supervisor at the prison.
