Prime Minister Manmohan Singh fired two of his Cabinet ministers to help limit the damage caused by graft allegations against his administration, two officials with knowledge of the matter said.
Rail Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and Law Minister Ashwani Kumar resigned Friday, the officials said, asking not to be identified as they were not authorized to speak on the subject. Kumar told reporters in New Delhi on Saturday that he quit to comply with his party's orders and to end all controversies. Both men have denied any wrongdoing.
