Beijing has denied allegations that a Chinese company exported a new ballistic missile launch vehicle unveiled at a Pyongyang military parade in April, telling a United Nations panel that the vehicle is "a timber truck," according to U.N. diplomats.
Beijing's claim counters reports that a Chinese company exported a launch vehicle to North Korea in May last year in violation of resolutions by the Security Council, of which China is a key member. The resolutions ban exports of military equipment and related material to North Korea.
The missile launcher that appeared in the April parade is a trailer truck vehicle with eight wheels on each side.
Kanwa Information Center, a private military research group based in Canada, released a report in April saying the vehicle was manufactured by an affiliate of the People's Liberation Army that builds specialty vehicles for the Chinese military.
