Kyoto-based Japanese fan maker Maisendo opened its new Tokyo shop, Sakira Maisendo, at Shibuya Hikarie ShinQs last April, featuring selected Japanese products from Kyoto and other areas of western Japan.
"Sakira" means "future" in the Kyoto dialect and the new shop offers stylish, innovative items made by traditional craftsmanship, such as fans, furoshiki (wrapping cloths) and tenugui (hand towels), as well as sweets and Kyoto vegetable jam.
Sakira Maisendo is on the fifth floor of ShinQs in Shibuya Hikarie, which is connected to Shibuya Station; open daily, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Tel: 03 6434-1640. Web: www.maisendo.co.jp
