Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. plans to hire up to 3,000 new employees abroad over the next three years to expand its overseas banking operations.
MUFJ is looking to generate at least 40 percent of its profit overseas within three years, compared with the current 28 percent, according to Takashi Morimura, head of the global banking at lending unit at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Ltd. (BTMU).
The group, which earned about 79 percent of its revenue in Japan in the business year that ended in March 2011, is aiming to open branches and offices in countries including China, India and Indonesia during this period, Morimura said Thursday.
