The city of Dongguan, China, held an investment seminar in Tokyo on Wednesday to lure more investment from Japanese manufacturers.

More than 300 Japanese participants, mainly from the electronics device sector, gathered at the seminar, said Dongguan Mayor Yuan Baocheng.

"I exchanged business cards with more than 100 people today. I'm pleased so many companies are interested in our city," Yuan said after the seminar.

The city, a center for making electronics devices, has not planned to raise the minimum wage for the rest of the year amid recently rising labor costs, he added.
