Shiseido Co., Canon Marketing Japan Inc. and Panasonic Corp. will provide financial help for 15 temporary FM radio stations broadcasting information for victims of the March 11 disasters.
The three firms will provide ¥3 million each to the 15 FM radio stations that were established in 13 municipalities in the three hardest-hit northeast prefectures of Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima, Shiseido said Thursday.
The support will be provided through the Japan Philanthropic Association, a Tokyo-based charity, until March 2013.
After the disaster, 23 temporary FM radio stations were established in the three prefectures. As of Thursday, 18 of them were still broadcasting information on daily life and reconstruction work, according to Shiseido.
Canon Marketing, the marketing arm of the major office equipment and electronics maker, and Panasonic agreed to join the support project that Shiseido worked on with the Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry, Shiseido said.
