A Serbian student won this year's international poster competition organized by the International Advertising Association and Japan's Dentsu Inc.
The theme of the third IAA-Dentsu Global Student Poster Competition was "sustainability" to promote next June's United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro.
At a ceremony at the U.N. headquarters in New York on July 27, Kiyo Akasaka, U.N. undersecretary general for communications and public information, presented the top award to Andjela Grabez, a student at the University of Arts in Belgrade.
Grabez's poster advocates using the sun, the most abundant and sustainable source of energy, in a smarter way.
"This poster competition is a wonderful demonstration that, while there are real limits on how we can use our natural resources, there are no limits on how we can use our imagination to help build a better world," Akasaka said of the outcome of the competition.
