DNA analysis has shown that semen found on a Japanese woman slain 14 years ago in Tokyo was not that of a Nepalese man serving a life sentence for her murder, sources said Thursday.

The new analysis also shows that the DNA matches the body hair of a different man collected at the murder site in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward, the sources said.

The findings could favor the Nepalese man, Govinda Prasad Mainali, 44, who is currently seeking a Tokyo High Court retrial, they said, noting the new findings indicate the victim might have had contact with another man at the time of the crime.
