Sharp Corp. will bolster the sales of energy-saving home electronics products, including those using LEDs, because of electricity shortages this summer, President Mikio Katayama said Thursday at the company's shareholders' meeting.
On the impact of the March earthquake and tsunami, which triggered the nuclear crisis, Katayama said, "It is hard to make a prediction because consumer sentiment could turn bearish."
In response to a shareholder's question about a slump in share prices, Katayama said he believes it is attributable to deteriorating profits from its large flat display panel business
