The government will make former Prime Minister Taro Aso an envoy to Japan-China friendship events featuring "anime," movies and TV programs, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Wednesday.
Aso, well-known for his love of anime and manga, is expected to attend "Movie and TV Week" and "Anime Festival" events in Beijing from June 8.
The events, organized jointly by the Japanese and Chinese governments, will wrap up June 13.
