Social critic and mathematician Tsuyoshi Mori, who expressed his views on a wide range of issues including education, died Saturday of septic shock at a hospital in Osaka Prefecture, his family said. He was 82.

Mori, a native of Tokyo, graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1950 and was a professor at Kyoto University from 1971 to 1991 before becoming a professor emeritus.

During his career, he expressed unique thoughts on various topics, including sports and entertainment, while writing numerous books and making television appearances.
