The Democratic Party of Japan is promising to
* Work toward holding the issuance of government bonds for fiscal 2011 below that of fiscal 2010, and begin nonpartisan negotiations on tax reforms, including a review of the sales levy.
* Halve the primary balance deficit by fiscal 2015 and achieve a primary balance surplus by fiscal 2020.
* Cut the number of seats in both Diet chambers and work to realize a year-round legislative session.
* Revise the political funds control law to ban corporate donations.
* Follow through on an agreement with Washington on the relocation of the U.S. Futenma air base, while also working to alleviate the military burden on Okinawa.
