OSAKA — West Japan Railway Co. is considering filing a complaint with police over train buffs who disrupted operations and delayed 13,000 passengers by trespassing on tracks to take photos of a rarely run train Sunday morning in Kashiwara, Osaka Prefecture.

JR West officials characterized the swarm of photographers as particularly malicious because several refused to stay clear of the tracks, causing trouble to numerous passengers.

According to the railway, about 40 to 50 train buffs gathered near Kawachikatakami Station to photograph the Asuka, a chartered train usually operated just a few times a year.

The motorman asked the fans to disperse, but several refused. This led to the suspension of 19 train runs and delays for another 26 trains for up to 39 minutes.

JR West summoned more workers and even police to help.
