The coalition government on Monday extended the extraordinary Diet session by four days to accommodate pending legislation.
The continuation to Friday was approved during a Lower House plenary session despite opposition demands for a longer extension.
The Liberal Democratic Party boycotted the session and said it will not participate in deliberations on pending bills unless the coalition, led by the Democratic Party of Japan, responds to its requests. New Komeito and the Japanese Communist Party also voted against the extension.
