Around 22,000 Indians lived in Japan at the end of 2008, about double the number a decade ago.
Engineers from India, which has fostered the development of the information services industry, are educated to a high level. One theory holds that the world could not have dealt successfully with the 2000 computer problem without the help of highly trained Indian engineers.
