FUKUOKA (Kyodo) An American arrested for allegedly trying to forcibly take his children from his former Japanese wife in Fukuoka Prefecture said in a Tuesday interview with Kyodo News that he did not think his actions were criminal.
"I didn't think just trying to bring my children back could constitute a crime," Christopher Savoie said in at a police station in Fukuoka, where he is under arrest on child kidnapping charges.
In the 15-minute interview, the 38-year-old also said Japan should organize a system in which parents in an international marriage can still meet their children even if the marriage falls apart.
