East Japan Railway Co. unveiled a new type of car Thursday for the Narita Express Line that boasts information displays in Japanese and three other languages and provides wireless Internet connections for business travelers during the run between Narita International Airport and Tokyo Station.
The E259 series car has an electronic display hanging from the ceiling that shows upcoming train stops and flight information in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean.
All seats are also equipped with electrical outlets and wireless Internet connections for computers, but a subscription to UQ Wi-Fi or BB Mobile Point is necessary to use it, JR East said.
Passengers also can stow their baggage in a locked storage space, and security cameras have been installed to prevent crimes, the railway said.
The new car will be used on 26 round-trip runs between Narita and Tokyo by next summer.
