Toyota Motor Corp. and Mazda Motor Corp. led a 4.2 percent drop in domestic vehicle sales last month as unemployment surged.
Sales of cars, trucks and buses, excluding minicars, fell 4.2 percent to 289,927 vehicles in July, the Japan Automobile Dealers Association said Monday.
Toyota sold 135,535 vehicles, excluding Lexus brand cars, down 3 percent from a year ago. Mazda's sales plunged 13 percent to 16,686.
