Dolce & Gabbana SpA of Italy settled a lawsuit by sports apparel maker Asics Corp., which accused it of copying stripe designs on sneakers and high-top shoes.
U.S. District Judge Howard Matz in Los Angeles dismissed the trademark-infringement action Friday, citing a confidential settlement agreement between the fashion house and Asics.
Milan-based Dolce & Gabbana, owned by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, was sued in September over claims it used a confusingly similar design on at least five footwear models to mislead consumers and trade on Asics' popularity.
The Italian fashion label copied an interlocking stripe motif used for 42 years on most Asics shoes, the Kobe-based company alleged. The parties filed papers June 23 asking Matz to dismiss the case, court records show.
