Toyota Motor Corp. introduced Thursday a redesigned version of the Crown Majesta luxury sedan to help stem a drop in domestic sales.
The company said it aims to sell 1,000 a month. The Crown Majesta will sell for between ¥6.1 million and ¥7.9 million. The model competes with Nissan Motor Co.'s Fuga and Honda Motor Co.'s Legend.
Toyota is trying to halt a seven-month slide in domestic sales with the revamped Crown, the model's first redesign in almost five years. Auto sales in Japan may drop to their lowest level in 31 years as the economy shrinks.
